Conceived as a public art project, this exhibit transformed part of a very public library space into an interactive gallery where passersby participated with the artwork by naming the paintings.
Public art is art which engages ordinary people in routine, ordinary environments.
The naming of the paintings is theoretically parallel to my collaborative painting style, which gives freedom or independence to the colored water. The material is not at the mercy of the artist, but rather an active member in the creative process.
It also relates to my desire to use painting to expand the viewers' imagination, transforming an art of colors and shapes into an art of words.
See these new names on the PAINTINGS page.
